About Us
The Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition and Festival began in 1999 to provide an opportunity for young pianists to develop their professionalism and mastery of the piano. The Competition has developed to now offer Australian and New Zealand pianists from ages 6 to 30, a range of educational programs and competitions led by international and national jurors.
Announcing the Inaugural Australian National Piano Competition for Children (ANPCC). July 10th to 13th, 2025.
The exciting four-day educational event to be held in Brisbane, is designed for Australian and New Zealand pianists aged 6 to 13.
The Lev Vlassenko Piano Academy presents national and international jurors who will give recitals, masterclasses and talks. Contestants will play in three rounds for significant prize money. Applicants have an opportunity to take part in masterclasses, open mic performances, Music and Movement activities, receive feedback from jurors.
Applications open 15th March and close 1st May.

1st Prize- $750
2nd Prize- $500
3rd Prize- $300
Ages 8 to 10:
1st Prize- $1000
2nd Prize- $750
3rd Prize- $500
Ages 11 to 13:
1st Prize- $2,000
2nd Prize- $1,500
3rd Prize- $1,000
Categories and Requirements
Age as of 1st January, 2025.
Documents to be uploaded at time of application:
- Birth certificate.
- Recommendation from teacher.
- Photo.
- Video - must be filmed in one take, no editing. Pianists hands, face and body must be clearly visible.
Ages 6 & 7:
- Audition - any work or works up to 5 minutes.
- Application fee- $120.00
Ages 8 to 10:
- Audition - any work or works up to 6 minutes.
- Application fee- $160.00
Ages 11 to 13:
- Audition - any work or works up to 7 minutes.
- Application fee- $200.00.
Successful applicants may use audition pieces at the Competition.
ROUND 1
Up to 10 pianists will be chosen for each group.Ages 6 & 7:
- Any work from the Baroque Period.
- Virtuoso study.
- Own choice.
Ages 8 to 10:
Program up to and not exceeding 10 minutes to include:
- Bach 2 - or 3 - part Invention; OR Bach Prelude and Fugue from Book 1 or 2.
- Virtuoso Study.
- Own Choice.
Ages 11 to 13:
Program up to and not exceeding 12 minutes.
- Bach Well Tempered Clavier: Prelude and Fugue from Book 1 or 2; OR Shostakovich Prelude and Fugue Op. 87.
- Virtuoso Study.
- Own Choice.
ROUND 2
Up to 6 pianists will be chosen for each group.
Ages 6 & 7:
Own choice- program up to and not exceeding 7 minutes. Different from Round 1.
Ages 8 to 10:
Own choice- program up to and not exceeding 10 minutes. Different from Round 1.
Ages 11 to 13:
ROUND 3
3 pianists will be chosen for each group.Ages 6 & 7:
Program up to and not exceeding 7 minutes: own choice of works from Round 1 and/or 2.
Ages 8 to 10:
Program up to and not exceeding 10 minutes: own choice of works from Round 1 and/or 2.
Ages 11 to 13:
Program up to and not exceeding 15 minutes: own choice of works from Round 1 and/or 2.
