Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition - First Round Finalist
Sheng-Yuan Lynch, aged 18, was a major prize winner of the inaugural national Young Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition, performing live in the finals with Queensland Symphony Orchestra under conductor Johannes Fritzsch and awarded second prize by its international jury. From the tender age of three, Sheng-Yuan Lynch showed a great interest and talent in classical piano, learning pieces by listening to recordings. In 2012, he began formal lessons with Shan Deng, Senior Lecturer in Classical Piano at University of Tasmania.
By age 12, he earned AMEBʼs AMusA and LMusA diplomas with distinctions, making him one of Australia's youngest recipients. Sheng-Yuan has also excelled in competitions, being awarded the prestigious McCann Music Award for being the most outstanding AMEB candidate in Southern Tasmania as well as the winner of 2018 Tasmanian Symphony Orchestraʼs Rising Star competition at 13 years old, naming a few.
Fearless on stage, Sheng-Yuan has been invited to perform in cities ranging from Brisbane to Beijing; highlight appearances include a “showcase performance” at the Sydney International Piano Competition, and performances alongside the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and internationally renowned ballet superstar Roberto Bolle.
His contributions and taste run far and wide, performing in rock bands and repetiteuring for musical theatre productions. Using music as a way to assist those in need, Sheng-Yuan has performed various charity concerts, helping donate a total of over $180,000 to numerous organizations since he was 11. He aspires to become a concert pianist and a composer of music for film and television.
