Anna Gao was born in Sydney and began studying piano at the age of 9 under the tutelage of
teacher, Fu Ying, developing a sound technical basis. In 2014, she began studying with
Katarina Makarova, passing her AMusA in piano a year later. Anna achieved high marks in her
HSC piano performance exams in Sydney, which received a nomination for the 2017 Encore
performances. After moving to Melbourne in 2016, she began studying piano under Glenn
Riddle. Anna was awarded her LMusA diploma for piano in 2018, completing VCE music
performance the same year with high marks.

Anna made her debut concerto appearance in 2018 with Preston Symphony Orchestra,
performing Grieg’s Piano Concerto to a capacity audience at the Northcote Town Hall. She has
also been invited to perform as a soloist with Zelman Symphony Orchestra and Melbourne
Youth Orchestra. Anna performs regularly and has participated in various competitions,
receiving many awards, including first place in the Ringwood Eisteddfod ‘Open Solo Piano’
section, for which she was invited back to perform in a recital at the Karralyka Centre. Anna has
also won various awards at West Gippsland Eisteddfod, La Trobe Valley Eisteddfod and
Eisteddfod by the Bay.

Anna is currently undertaking her second year in the Bachelor of Music degree, majoring in
performance, at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, studying under Glenn Riddle. She
aspires to travel abroad and take her music studies overseas to Europe in order to further her
