Enrico Sergio Mainas has recently completed his Bachelor of Music (Performance) with First Class Honours on a full scholarship at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, under the tutelage of Dr Paul Rickard-Ford.
He is the recipient of the James Richard Edward Chappell Scholarship, the Clarence Addison Turrill Scholarship, and the Henderson Travellers Scholarship. Enrico was the winner of the 2015 Theme and Variations Emerging Artists Series, and the following year was invited to present a one-hour public recital in the Theme and Variations showroom. He appeared as a finalist in the 2018 Australian National Piano Award, the 2017 John Allison and Sydney Eisteddfod Piano Scholarship, and as a state finalist in the 2017 Fine Music Young Virtuoso Award, for which his performance was broadcast live nationally on Fine Music 102.5. He was also featured in Fine Music’s recent programme ‘Fine Music from a New Generation’.
Overseas, Enrico was selected to compete in the 1st Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians, held in Zhuhai, China. He had previously toured China as a student in the Conservatorium High School, performing as an accompanist at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.
Enrico’s Henderson Travellers Scholarship enabled his travel to Austria to attend the Mozarteum University Salzburg’s 2018 International Summer Academy, where he studied with Professors Andreas Groethuysen and Yaara Tal, and was chosen to perform in an Akademiekonzert. Enrico is also a passionate researcher, and this year plans to commence a Doctor of Musical Arts.
