Born in Perth to a musical family, Paul began his piano studies with Dr Anthony Doheny and later with Joyce Bennett OAM. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at Griffith University Queensland Conservatorium under Oleg Stepanov and Natasha Vlassenko.
Paul was a co-founder of Australian record label, Master Performers which launched at Steinway Hall in New York in 2008.
He has since recorded internationally renowned artists such as Gerard Schwarz, Anton Kuerti, Nikolai Demidenko, Sergio Tiempo, Eivind Aadland, Vassilis Christopoulos, Natasha Vlassenko, Oleg Stepanov, Phillip Kawin, Edvard Tchivzhel, Pavel Sorokin, Charmian Gadd, Phillip Shovk and Alexander Malofeev.
Since 2013, Paul has turned his attention to film, noting its profound significance in the future of classical music. Robert Cummings of Classical USA wrote “Camera work, picture clarity and sound reproduction are first rate”. Pizzicato Magazine in Belgium described his work as, “Immaculate! Image and sound quality is pristine”. Colin Clarke of Fanfare Magazine wrote “The director, Paul Carasco, has both a musician’s ear (he is a noted pianist himself) and an artistic eye: He guides us effortlessly, and without jarring, to the correct musical contributors but also finds angles of some beauty.”
As a pianist, Paul has been a soloist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra under conductor Eivind Aadland. The Sydney Morning Herald has described his playing as having “unfailing energy”. In 2018, he performed with Warwick Adeney and Kate Travers in the QSO Chamber Music Series and made a film performing Liszt’s Malediction with the Russian National Orchestra at Rachmaninov Concert Hall (Philharmonia-2) in Moscow.
Paul is a producer for Classical Film & Sound and has recently launched www.masterperformers.tv
Paul completes his Juris Doctor postgraduate degree at the University of Southern Queensland in November this year.
