LEV VLASSENKO ALUMNI AT SYDNEY INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION OF AUSTRALIA

We’re thrilled to announce that 2015 1st prize-winner Ayesha Gough and 2nd prize-winner Daniel Le are amongst 32 competitors selected to compete at the Sydney International Piano Competition of Australia, 6-23 July 2016. Other competitors include Vietnam’s Quang Hong Luu, who received first-prize at the 2011 Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition whilst studying in Australia. The only other Australian to be accepted is Jeremy Soo, who also competed in the Lev Vlassenko Competition in 2011.

One of the major events of its kind in the world, the Sydney International Piano Competition of Australia (SIPCA) has, from its inception, held events at the highest international level inspiring pianists and audiences alike and stimulating interest in the piano and music in general. It has provided a showcase platform for outstanding pianists from all over the world and assisted with the development of their careers as concert artists. Pianists will compete for a total prize pool of $189,500 with rounds culminating in a gala final concert with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

With only 32 pianists selected world-wide (from some 283 who auditioned), it’s an honour to see four of our alumni join the ranks of this prestigious international event.

If you’d like to catch Ayesha before SIPCA starts, she’s performing a solo recital on Wednesday 8th April at Qld Conservatorium, with works by Beethoven and Prokofiev (accompanied by some of her own poetry and photography to match the pieces). Tickets at CONEVENTS

Daniel Le’s next performance will be at the Hilton Head International Piano Competition, South Carolina.
